The Process - Animated Commercial

When we receive a request to produce an animated commercial, we follow a clear and proven process that gives you as a customer great influence over the creative direction while always knowing what the film will cost. We use the following steps to ensure a smooth procedure as possible.

Consultation and creative meeting:

We begin with a meeting to understand your organization, goals and vision for the project. Together we discuss ideas, target audience and the desired style for your commercial.

Fixed price:

After the meeting, we present a detailed quotation specifying the scope and costs of the project. If desired, we can also draw up more alternative budget proposals with different levels of ambition.

Planning and script development:

If you do not already have a script ready, we will work together to develop one with a clear and engaging message for your commercial. We also provide a schedule for production.

Animatic:

Before starting the animation, we create a so-called animatic with still images or simpler animations in order to be able to visualize the film in advance. We prefer an animatic to a traditional storyboard as it gives a much clearer overall picture.

Animation and Completion:

Our experienced animators bring your vision to life through an iterative process where you receive regular updates. We have reconciliations at least once a week and continuously try to update and involve you in the process.

Sound Design:

We work with experienced sound and music editors who, in a meticulous and detailed work, amplify the film's message through sounds, voices and music.

Delivery:

When the film is finished and you are satisfied with the result, we deliver the finished commercial in the desired format. We save project files for at least one year for possible future updates.

How much does an animated commercial cost?

The price of an animated film is determined based on many different variables, some of which may not even be known when the order is placed. Because of that, the price of an animated commercial can vary widely, and it's never easy to give an exact price without breaking down the project in detail. Overall, it can be expected that a relatively short 2D animated film will cost around SEK 40,000-60,000, and that a 3D animated film with character animation will be more expensive.

Here's a rundown of what primarily affects the price:

  • Length and number of scenes

    A longer film often requires more animation, while a film with many scenes requires more assets in the form of illustrations or 3D models to be produced.

  • Tech

    Overall, 2D animation is cheaper than 3D animation, despite the fact that in recent years 3D animation has become much cheaper to produce. Photorealistic animations, in turn, require much more work and time than a more stylistic film.

  • Music

    If you want specially composed music or an existing commercial song, it costs significantly more than catalog music. Generally, catalog music costs around SEK 4,000-6,000 for a commercial, while specially composed music costs from SEK 20,000 and up, depending on what you are looking for. In recent years, a number of companies have also appeared that provide completely royalty-free music. However, the quality of these is often much lower.

  • Choice of voice

    A famous voice can have a big impact on a brand's identity, but you have to expect that it also costs more than the voice of a voice-over artist. The price of votes is often determined by how the film will be distributed and for how long. For distribution in Sweden for 3 years, you can expect a cost of somewhere between 6,000-10,000 SEK if you use a voice over artist.
